I have been involved in the SEO industry for 12 years and over the years I have heard and read many, many tales about what works in Google and what will get you blacklisted.
Hidden text is a classic old one that has been around since SEO began and many claim it will get you blacklisted and kicked out of the results index. Well I'm not so sure I still see and find many websites that are hiding keyword rich text somewhere, usually at the bottom, on their web page. Just as confusing these sites are ranking somewhere otherwise I would not of been looking at them in the first place.
Now I am not saying go stuff your page with a load of keyword rich text, far from it, in fact I always advocate that whatever you want your website found on in the natural listing those words must physically appear somewhere on the page.

Link farms are another one that always get a bad rap, again people must be using them so let me know how the site performed, good or bad
